Leap is a dynamic training and development programme for new IT graduates. The programme is designed to accelerate the development of recent IT graduates to become best-in-class software developers. Participants in Leap will experience an enriched on-boarding process followed by specific technology, business and professional skills training. The training promises to challenge and excite participants with responsibility and visibility. The six month programme starts each September in Galway. Upon completion of the training, graduates are placed in dynamic roles in software development across Fidelity's diverse technology project teams in Galway or Dublin.
Building Your Software Development Skills
As a software developer in Leap, you'll learn OO development utilising Java/J2EE and XML and Web application development using IBM's WebSphere, Web Services, and other Open Source technologies such as Linux, Struts, Spring MVC, Hibernate and IBATIS ORM. You’ll also learn database development and data manipulation using SQL and PL/SQL, as well as the software development life cycle: systems analysis, design, development, testing and support of software applications.
Participants benefit from onboarding, networking, technical training and professional development activities during the first 12 weeks of the programme, followed by a technical project assignment. Technical projects are selected from Fidelity’s IT organisation, providing participants with a multitude of opportunities.
At the end of the six-month training period, you’ll be ready to work with other Fidelity software engineers developing critical applications used by our internal and external customers for trading, benefits management, and core application needs.
